Police destroys Poppy cultivation in Baramulla
May 20: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the meane of drugs from the society, Police have destroyed poppy cultivation spread over vast areas of land in Goshbugh & Delina areas of Baramulla after receiving information regarding illegal cultivation of Poppy (opium plant) in these areas.
A police party of Police Post Wussan led by Incharge PP Wussan alongwith Magistrate under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Shri Mohd Nawaz-JKPS, reached the spot at Goshbugh and destroyed the illegally cultivated Poppy spread over nearly about 1 ½ Kanals of land. Similarly, another police party of Police Post Delina led by Incharge PP Delina alongwith Magistrate under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Shri Sajjad Bukhari-JKPS, reached the spot at Delina and destroyed the illegally cultivated Poppy spread over nearly about ½ Kanal of land.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated.
General Public is requested to extend cooperation to the Police and come forward with any information regarding any kind of anti-social activity in their neighbourhood.
