Police busts burglary gang in Baramulla; stolen property worth lakhs recovered
November 21: Police in Baramulla have busted burglary gang by arresting two accused persons involved in the commission of crime and recovered stolen property worth lacs.
In the recent past, incidents of burglary & vehicle theft were reported within the jurisdiction of Police Station Kunzer following which Case FIR numbers 40/2022, 72/2022, 76/2022, 87/2022, 89/2022 & 102/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered & investigation was initiated.
During investigation of these cases, strenuous efforts were put forth by the investigating officers by using modern techniques & human resources, names of some suspects surfaced which includes one namely Abdul Majeed Lone son of Ghulam Ahmad Lone resident of Checkthan Chanpora Tangmarg, a well-known burglar of Tangmarg area. In order to evade his arrest, the said accused person was hiding at different locations.
On 06/11/2022, information regarding movement of the said suspected person in village Gulabdaji area was received by Police Station Kunzer. Acting swiftly, the accused person was arrested by police party of Police Station Kunzer from the area. During questioning, the accused person confessed that he along with another person identified as Basharat Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat resident of Gund Hassi Bhat Srinagar are involved in these burglary & theft incidents, who was subsequently arrested.
The duo during questioning also disclosed that in order to hide their criminal activities and to dispose-off the stolen property without being exposed, they have opened a workshop at Diver Crossing in Mirgund area of Pattan. At the workshop they dis-assemble the stolen vehicles into parts and break the engines and cut pieces of vehicles by using cutters and then sell these pieces as scrap and use other parts in the vehicles which come to them for repair. They were also selling stolen M-Oil and spare parts to customers from the said workshop.
The investigating team also recovered stolen property worth lacs of rupees which include spare parts, parts of stolen vehicles, copper utensils, M-Oil etc on their disclosure. The investigation is in progress & further arrests are expected.
