Police Attaches Property Of Notorious Drug Peddler In Kulgam

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — While continuing its proactive actions against offenders and to curb menace of drug peddling, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday attached property worth lakhs of a notorious drug peddler in Kulgam district.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police attached property comprising double storey residential house and cowshed measuring 1291.48 Square Feet valuing Rs. 25,62,425 and 1139.5 Square Feet valuing Rs. 6,78,803 respectively belonging to Bashir Ahmad Khanday, son of Mohd Sultan Khanday, a resident of Nippora Kulgam under section 68-F(2) of NDPS Act 1985.

The said drug peddler is involved in Case FIR Number 148/2022 of Police Station Qazigund.

“The property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Kulgam police. The property was prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drug and psychotropic substances by the owner,” the Jammu and Kashmir Police said in a statement.

“This action reaffirms the commitment of Kulgam Police to combat the drug menace. Local people of the area have hailed the initiative of Police with regard to the attachment of immoveable property, which has been raised/used from illicit trafficking of narcotics by the drug peddlers in the Kulgam district,” the statement said.

Earlier this month, the Jammu and Kashmir Police had attached immovable property of three notorious drug peddlers at Khudwani, Buchroo and Gadihama villages of the district. — (KIMS)
