Police attaches property of notorious drug peddler in Handwara
Handwara, Nov 22 : Jammu and Kashmir Police in Handwara on Wednesday said to have attached a shopping line cum residential house belonging to a notorious drug peddler in Handwara.
The notorious drug peddler has been identified as Mohd Gulzar Mir, son of Gh Mohi-ud-Din Mir of Amargrah Tartpora Handwara.
A police spokesman said that the property belonging to Mir was attached under section 68-F of NDPS Act 1985.
The notorious drug peddler is found involved in NDPS cases including a case under FIR number 49/2021 under section 8/20 NDPS Act of PS Vilgam, FIR number 95/2022 under section 8/20 NDPS Act of PS Vilgam.
“The property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Police Handwara. The property was prima facie accrued from illicit trafficking in Narcotic drug and Psychotropic Substances by the owner,” police said.
The spokesman said that the notorious drug peddler is currently detained under PIT-NDPS Act and is lodged at Central Jail Kot Balwal Jammu. “This operation reaffirms the commitment of Handwara Police to combat the drug menace,” police said.
Meanwhile, local people of the area hailed the initiative of Handwara Police with regard to the attachment of immoveable properties which has been raised, used from illicit trafficking of narcotics by the drug peddler in the Police District Handwara—(KNO)
