Police arrests drug peddler in Budgam, contraband substances recovered
March 11: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested a drug peddler in Budgam and recovered contraband substances from his possession.
A police party of Police Station Beerwah at a checkpoint established at Lalpora crossing intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by the alert police party. During search, 100grams of Charas like substance in the shape of rods wrapped in Maize Cob leaves (4 Nos’), 3 strips of Anxit-0.5 and 45 tablets of Alprazolam tablets were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Tauseef Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Mohammad Wani resident of Lalpora Beerwah. Ha has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 32/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Beerwah and investigation has been initiated.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making unwavering efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace. General public is once again requested to cooperate with police in the battle against the drug menace and any information regarding anti-social activity in their neighbourhood should be shared with nearby police unit so that timely action against the culprits will be taken.
