Police arrests bootlegger, seizes 2 dumpers

KATHUA: Kathua Police on Sunday recovered illicit liquor in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Kathua and also seized two dumpers in the jurisdiction of Police Post Chadwal which were indulging in illegal mining activities.

Police said a joint team of District Special Branch (DSB) and PS Kathua during naka checking in its jurisdictional area near Chack Drab Khan apprehended one suspect namely Anil Kumar, son of Dharam Paul of Chack Drab Khan tehsil and district Kathua.

On his physical checking, approximately 45litres of illicit liquor was recovered from his possession by the police party on spot and bootlegger was arrested.

A case vide FIR Number 184/2021 US 48 (E) Excise Act was registered in the Kathua Police Station and further investigation has been initiated.

Meanwhile, a team of Police Post (PP) Chadwal in Kathua district under the supervision of in charge Police Post, Inspector, Arun Salathia in its jurisdiction area found two dumpers indulged in illegal mining which were being used for illegal transportation of construction material. Both the dumpers were seized and handed over to the officials of Mining Department for further legal proceedings.
