Police Arrests Accused in Sexual Assault Case in Budgam
Srinagar: Budgam police have arrested a man and registered a case against him in connection with kidnapping & brutal sexual assault on a 23-year-old girl in Budgam.
Meanwhile, locals have demanded severe punishment for the accused. According to the CNS, after the abduction of a 23-year-old girl in Narkora Budgam on December 22, there has been a wave of public outrage against the physical abuse.
In this regard, Budgam police arrested Azaan Kaunsar son of Kaunsar Ahmad Khan, resident of Hyderabad, son of a well-known hotel owner and registered a case against him under FIR No. 465/2020 under Section 366-376 and further investigation is going on.
On the other hand, the locals have expressed their sympathy to the family of the victim over the brutal and heart-breaking incident that took place with the girl and demanded severe punishment for the involved person.
Religious leaders in Budgam civil society and others have called for the police to stern punishment for the accused, saying it would serve as a lesson to young people who are becoming increasingly misguided in society.
The locals of the area added that the accused is the son of prominent hotelier and he is trying to influence the case through influential means. They sought intervention of higher officials to ensure transparency in the case.
“Our society is rapidly losing high moral values. It is our collective responsibility to take stock of our own situation and decide whether to take responsibility for such tragedies in our society,” the residents said. (CNS)
