Police arrests 02 drug peddlers in Budgam; Contraband substance recovered

122 drug peddlers arrested & 18 vehicles seized in NDPS cases during 2022 in Budgam

December 31: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Budgam have arrested 02 drug peddlers and recovered  contraband substance from their possession.

A Police party of Police Station Chadoora at a checkpoint established at Tagnar Chadoora intercepted a vehicle (Santro) bearing registration number JK04A-8236 with two persons on broad. During search, 176.200 KGs of Poppy Straw concealed in 05 nylon bags were recovered from their possession. The have been identified as Showkat Ahmad Yatoo @Shola son of Abdul Aziz Yatoo resident of Hayatpora Chadoora & Farooq Ahmad Sheikh @Jana son of Abdul Majeed Sheikh resident of Tangnar Chadoora. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used for the commission of the crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 209/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Chadoora and investigation has been initiated.

Pertinently, during the year 2022, Police arrested 122 drug peddlers & seized 18 vehicles in drug-dealing cases in district Budgam.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
