Police arrests 02 drug peddlers in Budgam; Contraband substance, cash recovered
Poppy cultivation destroyed in Pulwama
April 26: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police in Budgam have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances and cash ₹55000 from their possession. Besides, Police destroys poppy cultivation in Pulwama.
A police party of Police Station Chadoora during patrolling at Nagam-Hayatpora road intercepted a vehicle (Alto-800) bearing registration number JKO4E-9628 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Mohammad Ayoub Beigh son of Mohammad Jamal Beigh resident of Nowhar Chadoora & Nazir Ahmed Sheikh son of Mohammad Shafi Shiekh resident of Tangnar Chadoora. During search, 69 Kgs of Poppy Straw and cash amount of ₹55000/-, believed to be proceeds of narcotic crime were recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Besides, vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 69/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Chadoora and further investigation has been set into motion.
In Pulwama, a special team of Police comprising of DySP Hqrs Pulwama along with SHO PS Pulwama and revenue department launched a special drive against the poppy cultivation and destroyed poppy approximately in 07 Kanals of land in Pinglena and Gundipora areas of Pulwama. Besides, Police have recovered 21 Kgs of green poppy from the spot.
In this regard a case vide FIR No. 107/22 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Pulwama against two accused persons namely Gh Rasool Bhat son of Gh Qadir resident of Pinglena & Nazir Ahmad Mir son of Mohd Subhan resident of Gundipora Pulwama.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
