Police arrested two Jaish militants in Kupwara, ammunition recovered

Kupwara: Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested two militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant outfit from Drugmulla area in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Police in a statement said, “Acting upon the said input, Kupwara Police and Army’s 47 RR established nakas at different locations in the district and intercepted a car Eon bearing Registration Number JK05G-0872 near FCI Godown at Drugmullah Kupwara and arrested two militants from a car belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant outfit.”

The duo has been identified as Waseem Irshad Gabroo (23), Son of Irshad Ahmed Gabroo from Takiyabal, Arampora, Sopore and Mehraraj-Ud-Din Wani (21), Son of Ghulam Din Wani, a resident of Badshah Masjid, Sopore.

“AK-47 along with one magazine, two grenades, 30 AK rounds and Rs 7 lakh cash were recovered from their procession”, statement added.

A case (FIR no. 233) under section Indian Arms 7/25 Act, and 13,18, 19, 39 UAPA sections has been registered at police station Kupwara.
