Police arrest 17 persons for violating prohibitory orders in Pulwama, Ganderbal
FIR filed against people in Kakpora
Srinagar, Mar 26: Seventeen persons were arrested by police in Pulwama and Ganderbal districts on Friday for violating government’s prohibitory orders to contain the spread of coronavirus disease.
“Continuing action against violators of prohibitory orders issued by Government u/s 144 CrPC, Police have arrested 17 persons for defying the restriction orders over COVID-19,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.
He said in Awantipora, 14 persons were arrested for defying prohibitory orders issued u/s 144 CrPC. A case FIR No. 38/2020 under relevant section of law has been registered at Police Station Awantipora, he added.
The spokesperson said in Ganderbal, police arrested three persons involved in violating prohibitory orders.
Two separate cases have been registered and further investigations taken up, he said.
Meanwhile, a team of district administration and police intercepted a group of youth who were playing cricket at Khandermuh, Kakpora.
All the persons fled from the scene, and the team seized cricket kits, an auto rickshaw and a scooter, reports said.
Later, at Bangund, Kakpora, the team found a large number of people taking part in the “Bandara” organized at the village level. The team destroyed the food and other things, reports said.
Confirming it, SHO Kakpora, Sheikh Manzoor Ahmad told GNS that two FIRs in both these incidents were lodged under sections 188 and 270 IPC. Further investigations have been taken up, he said.
“We once again request the general public to abide by the restrictions imposed by District Magistrates in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Those violating the restrictions will be dealt strictly,” the police said.
