Panic gripped Gandhi Nagar locality over gun shots at Ch Nagar Singh’s residence

JAMMU: Over three to four armed men opened fire at the main gate of the residence of contractor Choudhary Nagar Singh at posh Gandhi Nagar locality on late Saturday night. The assailants managed to flee in a car without being noticed after firing over a dozen rounds.

Panic gripped the locality when residents heard the gun shots. The matter was reported to local police. The armed men parked their car outside the Nagar residence and opened fire when the Choudhary family arrived home in a car (JK02BW 3636).

Fortunately, no one was injured in the firing. Two bullet shots hit the main gate and the BMW car (HP38F 6187) parked inside Choudhary’s house.

Rakesh Choudhary, brother of Choudhary Nagar Singh informed that they had reported the matter to police last month regarding continuous threats to the Choudhary family.

“We have already given names of the suspects to the police.

However, nothing was done,” family members disclosed to the media persons who visited the spot late night. “Senior police officers have asked the family to name the officers before whom they had lodged the complaint regarding threats,” said Rakesh Choudhary, adding, “police is scrutinizing the video footage of the CCTV cameras to identify the assailants.

Talking to media persons, Rakesh Choudhary disclosed the names of assailants as Raja, resident of Old City Jammu, Bablu Langda, resident of RS Pura, Sethi, resident of Ramgarh and Babbar, resident of Gujjar Nagar presently living at Bhagwati Nagar.

Meanwhile, Ch Nagar Singh was not at home when the firing took place. According to family sources, Nagar is out of station.
