Pakistani Militant Killed In On-Going Encounter At Kupwara
SRINAGAR — A Pakistani militant affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant outfit was killed while as 2-3 others are trapped in an on-going encounter between government forces and militants at Lolab area of Kupwara district in North Kashmir.
According to police statement, “Kupwara Police launched a joint anti-militancy operation alongwith Army’s 28RR on the disclosure of an arrested militant Showket Ahmed Sheikh in Lolab area of Kupwara.”
The statement said that “During search of hideouts, hiding militants fired upon joint search parties and our team also retaliated, in which one militant got killed.”
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar said, “Killed militant has been identified as a Pakistani, linked with proscribed militant outfit LeT. 2-3 more militants alongwith arrested militant trapped in on-going encounter.”
Kashmir Zone Police quoting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar tweeted, “KupwaraEncounterUpdate: Killed militant has been identified as a Pakistani, linked with proscribed militant outfit LeT. 2-3 more militants alongwith arrested militant trapped in ongoing encounter.” — (KIMS)
