Pakistan to vote today amid polarisation, militant attacks
Pakistan is all set to go to the polls today. The electoral battle has primarily focused on the contest between the parties of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif, another ex-prime minister. Imprisoned former Prime Minister Khan’s absence still dominates Pakistan’s elections. There are four major faces that people need to look upon, military chief Asim Munir, Imran Khan, Nawaz Sharif, and the youngest candidate Bilawal Bhutto. Pakistan is facing an economic crisis, militancy, and strained relations with neighboring countries. Pakistan’s parliamentary democracy involves voting for seats in the National Assembly and provincial legislatures.
