Pagers explode across Lebanon in attack targeting Hezbollah members

Lebanon, dozens of people, including Iranian Ambassador Mojtaba Amani, were injured in pager explosions. According to media reports, several Hezbollah members were wounded when their communication devices, pagers, exploded in various regions of Lebanon.

Approximately 70 individuals have been reported injured, with the number expected to rise. Sky News, citing Lebanese sources in Arabic, claimed that the explosions were a result of Israeli hacking. Israeli authorities have not commented on the matter yet.

Arab media reports indicate that around 1,000 Hezbollah members have been injured due to pager and radio explosions. It was also reported that Syrian figures were wounded in these simultaneous explosions. Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, is among the injured.

Reports suggest that the pagers, considered safe for communication, exploded simultaneously, injuring many Hezbollah members. Hospitals are overwhelmed with the injured, and several are in critical condition.

Videos of the explosions, their aftermath, and chaos in Lebanese hospitals are circulating on social media. Unconfirmed Arab media reports attribute these explosions to an Israeli cyberattack. Notably, Israel’s Security Cabinet recently updated its official wartime objectives, including the safe return of 60,000 northern residents to their homes. These Israelis were forced to evacuate their homes near the Lebanon border when Hezbollah began rocket and drone attacks in October.

Hezbollah leaders have vowed to continue their attacks to prevent Israelis from returning to their homes. Israeli sources report that these attacks have killed 26 civilians and 20 soldiers. According to Israeli security data, Hezbollah fired 1,307 rockets into northern Israel in August, averaging 40 rockets per day. Since October 8, Hezbollah has launched more than 6,700 rockets and drones.

Since October 7, 2023, at least 41,182 Palestinians have been killed, and 95,280 wounded in ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza. Most of Gaza has been reduced to rubble.

Despite the destruction, Israel has yet to achieve its objectives, as Hamas continues to resist Israel’s demands. Hamas’ military wing frequently claims responsibility for killing Israeli soldiers, while Israel has not provided evidence of the deaths of Hamas fighters.
