Ongoing PDD employees strike comes under public criticism as most parks reel under darkness in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 19: The ongoing strike by Power Development Department (PDD) employees have come under the severe public criticism, with people terming it unreasonable.
ANN News received scores of calls from the cosumers from affected areas who urge PDD to restore power supply without any further delay.
“The strike by PDD officials on the surface of it appears to be very unreasonable. It looks like they have chosen the time deliberately when winter has set in and when they know fully well that common man would be put to great inconvenience they have decided to disrupt supply,” said a caller who indentified himself as Muneer Ahmad of Pulwama.
He added that going by their logic, the doctors and paramedical staff could have also stopped working when the COVID19 crisis took place and “blackmail the government to ask for increase in salary.”
The people also raised questions over the “all of sudden strike” and said that employees must have given a prior notice to public and government before going for such agitating programme.
An official said that the steps to privitize the PDD was taken two years ago.
“Few in PDD are provoking other colleagues with imaginary fears that there is a danger of salary not being paid, in future is the most unreasonable ground to stop working and harass public. And all those imaginations are untrue,” he said.
