Not Me, Person Who Solves Kashmir Dispute According To Peoples Wishes Deserves Nobel Peace Prize: Imran Khan

Srinagar: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday said that the person who would resolve the Kahsmir dispute according to the peoples wishes would be worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize.

“I am not worthy of the Nobel Peace prize. The person worthy of this would be the one who solves the Kashmir dispute according to the wishes of the Kashmiri people and paves the way for peace & human development in the subcontinent.”

A motion was submitted in Pakistan’s National Assembly Secretariat on Saturday calling for Prime Minister Imran Khan to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in “de-escalating” tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad.

The motion, submitted by Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, stated that the Indian leadership’s “war hysteria” and “aggression” caused tensions between the two nuclear-armed countries and brought them on the brink of war, Geo News reported.

“Imran Khan expertly diverted the situation towards peace, the motion further said. PM Imran should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts towards peace,” it added.

#NobelPeacePrizeForImranKhan top trend as world lauds PM’s decision to release Indian pilot

On Friday, #NobelPeacePrizeForImranKhan became the top trend as the premier was lauded world over for his decision to release captured Indian air force pilot Abhinandan Varthaman as a peace gesture to de-escalate tensions with neighbouring India.

The premier, in his address to a joint session of Parliament on Thursday, announced to release Wing Commander Abhinandan as a gesture of peace and goodwill towards India, earning him praise from celebrities, journalists, diplomats and the common public who admired his brave and bold move in the favour of maintaining peace in the region and possibly avoiding an all-out war with India, the consequences of which could be disastrous.

An online petition was filed moving the Norwegian Nobel Committee for the nomination of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan for the “Nobel Peace Prize for 2020 for his peace efforts and dialogues in the Asian region on diverse conflicts (e.g. Pakistan-India, Afghanistan-USA, Middle East etc.)”.

“His (Imran’s) contributions deserve the international recognition with the award of Nobel Peace Prize in 2020, his aims of ensuring lasting peace in the region and discouraging revival of militarism should be recognized and greatly appreciated,” read the online petition, started by Rameez Asif, on petition website Change.org.
