Non-communicable diseases an invisible epidemic, people should go for screening: Director Health

 

‘DHSK to screen all above 30 years of age for NCD in Kashmir this year’

 

Srinagar, Aug 12 : Non-communicable diseases (NCDs), such as heart disease, hypertension, stroke, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes, are the leading cause of mortality in the world and these diseases are invisible epidemic and people must go for screening as early detection offers the better chance to cure, Director Health services Kashmir said on Saturday.

As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), under the “Meri maati mera desh” campaign, a non-communicable disease screening camp was organised in the Directorate of Health services Kashmir which was inaugurated by Director Health Services Kashmir Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather.

Speaking on the occasion as per KNO Director Health Services Kashmir laid stress on the preventive aspects of non communicable diseases which is becoming a fast spreading epidemic and causing high incidence of morbidity and mortality across the world.

Director Health laid emphasis on the fact that all people above 30 years of age should get themselves screened for non communicable diseases especially diabetes and hypertension and adopt a healthy lifestyle for control and early detection of these diseases.

He said that the best contribution for our country will be screen more and more people as early detection offers the best chance of cure.

He said that such screenings camps will be organised in other parts of Kashmir as well while adding that DHSK has decided to screen all above 30 years of age in Kashmir for non communicable diseases this year only.

He said that early detection of disease is important for proper treatment and people must go under screening.

It is crucial for people to change their lifestyle as no other option is left now. They need to exercise, work on their fitness, and reduce the consumption of salt, sugar, and other harmful elements,” said the Director of Health, emphasizing the need for people to take preventive measures seriously.

“The rise of chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes is becoming a concern across India, prompting the government to initiate the NCB program. The aim is to educate people on how to remain healthy and enjoy a better quality of life.”—(KNO)
