Nobody above law: Police files FIR against Shahnawaz Abdullah, MC Chairman Langate over illegal Soil excavation
Police on Wednesday filed FIR against Municipal Committee Chairman Langate Shahnawaz Abdullah for illegally excavating soil from the premises of a government school in Langate.
The locals said that earlier last week soil cutting was done without seeking NOCs from concerned department which amplifies grave violation of norms. “The NOC was not sought from Revenue, I&FC, PDD, Agriculture, Horticulture, Soil Conservation, Forest and importantly Geology & Mining Department which vindicates the person involved in the scam considers himself above the law”, the locals said.
They alleged the Municipal Chairman, Langate Shahnawaz Abdullah was responsible for plundering resources of Government in broad daylight.
After news about illegal excavation of soil from the premises of Government Middle School Langate in north Kashmir’s Kupwara went viral on social media platforms, the locals of the area urged administration to book the accused.
Meanwhile the police have taken cognizance of the matter and filed an FIR under 93/2022 against MC Chairman Langate, Under relevant sections of law.
Earlier before The KNS has learnt the Department of Geology & Mining has also ordered a probe into the matter and MC Chairman Langate was slapped with fine of 1.05 lac by Department of Geology & Mining.
The locals hailed the action taken by administration and said that the prompt action indicates the vigilance of LG administration against illegal practices.
