Nine dead, five injured as car plunges into gorge in Kathua
JAMMU: Nine people, including three children and three women, died while five others were injured after their vehicle rolled into a deep gorge on Katli-Malhar road in Billawer area of Kathua district late on Saturday.
“The vehicle was going from Billawer to Malhar when the accident took place. Nine passengers died while five were injured, two of them critically,” said a police source.
The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital by locals. The critically injured were referred to Jammu GMCH.
Kathua deputy commissioner O P Bhagat confirmed the casualties.
“Police and civic authorities launched a rescue operation as soon as they learnt about the accident around 5.30pm,” he said. (ToI)
