NIA chargesheets Pak-based LeT/TRF, six others in Pahalgam terror attack case
NEW DELHI (KIMS) — The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday chargesheeted seven accused in the Pahalgam terror attack case, including Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front (TRF).
In a 1,597-page chargesheet filed before the NIA Special Court in Jammu, the agency detailed Pakistan’s conspiracy behind the attack, the roles of the accused, and the supporting evidence. The banned LeT/TRF has been chargesheeted as a legal entity for its role in planning, facilitating and executing the attack, which involved religion-based targeted killings and left 25 tourists and one local civilian dead.
The chargesheet also names Pakistan-based handler Sajid Jatt as an accused. Additionally, three Pakistani terrorists Faisal Jatt @ Suleman Shah, Habeeb Tahir @ Jibran and Hamza Afghani who were killed by Indian security forces during Operation Mahadev at Dachigam in Srinagar in July 2025, have also been chargesheeted in the case.
LeT/TRF and the four named terrorists have been booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, the Arms Act, 1959, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. Charges for waging war against India have also been invoked against the accused.
The NIA said its nearly eight-month-long scientific investigation traced the conspiracy in case RC-02/2025/NIA/JMU to Pakistan, which it said continues to sponsor terrorism against India.
Two accused Parvaiz Ahmad and Bashir Ahmad Jothatd arrested on June 22, 2025 for harbouring terrorists have also been chargesheeted. During interrogation, the duo disclosed the identities of the three armed terrorists involved in the attack and confirmed that they were Pakistani nationals affiliated with the proscribed LeT outfit.
Further investigation in the case is going on. — (KIMS)
