NIA arrests ‘LeT militant recruiter’ in Bandipora
SRINAGAR: National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday claimed to have arrested a recruiter of proscribed militant organization Lashkar-e-Taiba from Ajas tehsil of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
An official said that a militant recruiter identified as Altaf Ahmad Rather son of Ghulam Nabi Rather, presently adopted by Habibullah Rather, was arrested from Ajas Potu Mohalla of Bandipora in LeT Recruitment Module Case number (RC-20/2020/NIA/DLI).
He said the arrested man was in touch with a lady from West Bengal since 2018, who was working for militant organizations.
“Few days ago, his residence was raided by the probing agency (NIA) and on Thursday, he was formally arrested,” the official said, adding that incriminating material was also recovered from his residence earlier, which includes 8-10 mobile phones and some posters of Syed Ali Shah Geelani. (KNO)
