Srinagar, Feb 12: In a bizarre incident and despite having availability of a Sonologist at District Hospital (DH) Bandipora, Block Medical Officer Bandipora has recently deputed a Sonologist who was despatching her professional duties at PHC Chuntimulla to DH Bandipora which has pushed hundreds of patients to wall and has left them to suffer.
The continuous news reports of USG being defunct at DH Bandipora was making rounds from past couple of days after which BMO Bandipora directed a doctor of PHC Chuntimulla to attend three days a week at DH Bandipora.
Insiders told News Agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that the news reports of non-availability of sonologist at DH Bandipora was being carried without considering presence of already available doctor who is an expert sonologist besides being senior most physician.
“His expertise will be of great use for patient care. It seems that dirty politics has engulfed DH Bandipora & despite expert doctor being present in hospital hue & cry made about ultrasound section,” an insider wishing anonymity told KDC.
He said that instead of putting the patients in trouble the health authorities should make his services available. Besides being a local doctor his availability should also not be a problem to the department.
“PHC Chuntimulla has availability of only one lady doctor .Now as per the directives of BMO she has to attend PHC Chuntimulla three days a week and leftover days of a week at DH Bandipora but Dr. Majeed (already available sonologist) who has been posted at DH Bandipora is not being used by the department for the reasons better known to them,” he added.
Meanwhile, Doctors at DH Bandipora questioned that instead of begging doctor from the block why don’t higher ups look for a solution & get a permanent sonologist who will perform duties there.
“Recently many doctors have been detached from district hospital Bandipora & sent back to block then how come this doctor will be attached from block to DH Bandipora,” they asked.
Efforts to contact BMO and CMO Bandipora couldn’t materialize as both the officials didn’t respond to repeated calls. (KDC)
