NC politics hostage to cricket scam, alleges PDP
Srinagar: The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday said the politics of their rival National Conference (NC) was hostage to its Chief Farooq Abdullah’s alleged involvement in a cricket scam.
In a statement on Monday, senior PDP leader and former minister Naeem Akhtar said, “It is becoming evident that the NC has become a puppet, whose strings are pulled by the people sitting in the power corridors of New Delhi.
“The theatrics by the NC to stop the joint resistance by political groups in J&K against the BJP reflect how much the NC president is under pressure due to his involvement in cricket scam for which the CBI presented the charge sheet in the designated court on July 18, 2018.”
While Abdullah was supporting the Opposition’s Mahagathbandhan against the BJP outside the state where he could make little difference, in the state where he could really make a difference, he was doing everything to ensure that the BJP does not face a united Opposition, the PDP said.
The PDP also criticised NC Vice-President and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah saying he was levelling baseless, unfounded and unsubstantiated charges against the PDP.
He has supervised the erosion of his own party during the last two decades, it added. (IANS)
