NC expresses concern over plight of students stranded outside J&K

Srinagar: National Conference on Sunday expressed concern over the plight of students which are stranded outside J&K, following the closure of educational institutions across the country.

In a statement, the party spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar said, “We have been receiving distress calls from students stranded in various Universities across the country who want to come home but do not have the means to do so. Owing to the closures of educational institutions many students find themselves in limbo.”

Imran said most of the students do not have resources to return home as railways and other interstate transport networks have suspended operations in wake of the COVID-19.

He asked the government needs to act swiftly to help students who were facing a shortage of money and food.

“Kashmiris studying in Hyderabad University have been asked to vacate university premises. They don’t have enough money to come back. There are similar stories emanating from other parts of the country,” Imran said.

He urged the government to come to the rescue of these students stranded in various Universities and colleges of the country. “Special nodal officers should be deputed to look after the repatriation of all these students,” Imran said.
