National Lok Adalat held at Srinagar District Court

Srinagar, May 15: National Lok Adalat was held at District Court, Srinagar.
The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Justice Uday Umesh Lalit, senior most Judge Supreme Court of India, Chairman National Legal Services Authority, in the presence of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, senior Judge, J&K and Ladakh High Court, Chairpman JKLSA, Jawad Ahmed Pr. District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar, M K Sharma Member Secretary JKLSA , Noor Mohammed Mir Secretary DLSA Srinagar and Judicial Officers of District Srinagar. Hon’ble Justice Lalit visited various Benches and witnessed amicable settlement of cases before these benches and also distributed cheques among some claimants of MACT cases.
“By persistent pursuance of Principal District Judge Srinagar one injury claim was settled at Rs 1.20 crore in which cheque was presented to the party on spot by Shri Ram Insurance Company.”
“In the Lok Adalat more than 41000 cases were taken up out of which 37151 cases were settled in which amount of Rs 8.27 crore was settled as compensation and recovery. Justice Uday Umesh Lalit appreciated the work of Judicial Officers, lawyers, insurance companies and all other stake holders.”
