Mughal Road, SSG Road, Kishtwar–Sinthan Road closed due to snow accumulation
SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Traffic movement on Mughal Road, SSG Road and Kishtwar–Sinthan Road has been suspended as a precautionary measure due to snow accumulation, traffic officials said on Thursday.
Officials said the roads have been closed to ensure the safety of commuters and advised people not to travel on these routes until they are fully restored.
However, traffic is plying normally from both sides on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway, they added.
They also advised commuters not to pay heed to rumours and to check the latest road status from the Traffic Police Twitter Handle: @Traffic_hqrs, Facebook page: facebook.com/jammuandkashmirtrafficpolice and TCUs: TCU Jammu (0191-2459048, 0191-2740550, 9419147732, 103), Srinagar (0194-2450022, 2485396, 18001807091, 103) and TCU Ramban (9419993745, 1800-180-7043) before starting their journey.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department (MeT) had forecasted light to moderate rain or snowfall at most places across Jammu and Kashmir from December 31 to January 1. A few higher and extreme higher reaches of north and central Kashmir may receive moderate to heavy snowfall during this period, it said. — (KIMS)
