Moulvi Yasin Shah – ‘Mu’azzin’ Historic Jamia Masjid passes away
Srinagar: Moulvi Yasin Shah, ‘Mu’azzin’ of Historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar passed away on Friday at the age of 80 after a brief illness.
Reports said large number of people participated in his funeral.
Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid spokesperson said that Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq could not lead the Namaaz-e-Janaazah as he continues to be under house arrest since August 2019.
Mirwaiz expressed deep grief and termed it a big loss for the people of Srinagar especially for those having association and devotion with Jama Masjid.
Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar expressed deep grief and sorrow over his demise and termed it a big loss for the religious fraternity of Kashmir especially those who would visit jamia Masjid.
Auqaf members while paying glowing tributes to Moulvi Yasin Shah termed him a true ‘Aashiq-e-Rasool’ (SAW). They said that the sweet and melodious voice of the deceased used to attract thousands of faithful to throng the Jama Masjid. (KNT)
