Missing MBA Student Leaves Entire Family Worrisome

Pulwama: An MBA pass out from Baba Gulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) Rajouri is missing from the last seven days, leaving his entire family worrisome. The family has expressed apprehensions that their son may have joined the militant ranks.

The missing MBA pass out has been identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Wani, son of Late Mohammad Yousuf Wani of Koil village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Ishfaq according to the family has left his home on July 20th and since then he is untraceable.

Ishfaq prior to leaving his home had told his family that he is going to appear in the examinations at BGSBU Rajouri, a family member said.

“We tried to call him many a times, but his phone is switched off since then,” family members said, adding that “we contacted relatives and his friends but so far we are unable to trace him.”

The family said that they later lodged a missing report at the concerned Police Station.

“We are hopeful about his return,” a family member said.

His family members and friends have apprehensions that Ishfaq may have joined militant ranks.

“If he has joined any militant rank, we appeal to the organization to send him back to his home,” the family appealed.

Ishfaq a meritorious student, earlier studied at the Alamdar Public school Koil. He later opted for science stream and completed his BSC from Government Degree College Pulwama and later on joined BGSBU for a Masters in Business administration, said one of his friends, Rizwan Ahmad.

After completing his MBA in the year 2015, he joined a private sector bank however, he left the job after 12 months and started his business, his friend added.

“I think he has joined militant ranks as his last Facebook posts were only in praise of jihad,” he said.

“Those who fight in jihad have the right to the spoils of the conquered or Paradise if he dies,” he had wrote in his last Facebook post.

Notably, Ishfaq is son of a top Hizb commander Mohammad Yousuf Wani who was killed along with his two associates at Pingelan area of Pulwama district on 31 August 1996.

Ishfaq is survived by mother, step father (uncle), three brothers and one sister.

Among three brothers, elder one Aijaz Ahmad is married and is working in police department.

A senior police official said it will be premature to say anything at this stage.

“Family has lodged a missing report and investigation is going on,” he said.
