Mir Junaid greets the nation on the eve of Mahashivratri

10th March, Srinagar: The President of Jammu Kashmir Workers Party Mir Junaid wished the whole nation on the eve of Mahashivratri and prayed for the speedy return of Kashmiri Pandits.
Mir on the occasion said, “I belong to a generation that has not seen the large scale celebration of Mahashivratri in Kashmir. It is a dream for me as the scenario when imagined looks like a total contrast to what Kashmir has been in over the last three decades.”
Mir added that, “The Government needs to accelerate the efforts of resetting Kashmir Pandits as their return is a key to achieving the dream of a Naya Kashmir”. Speaking about the Kashmir culture, Mir said, “Kashmiri culture has evolved in a symbiotic manner which actually made its people’s style of living an amalgam of Shaivism and Sufism. We have a tradition of celebrating each other’s festivals with a lot of fervour and both the faiths respect the other community and participate in the preparations for these festivals”.
Mir also said, “Kashmir can only be complete when the Pandits return to their motherland and I hope that day is not far.” Mir also spoke about the need of Pandits’ return for the experience and exposure they will bring along on their return and this shall be a great boost to socio-economic development of Kashmir.
He added, “ More stress needs to be laid on the urgency with which the issue of the Pandit return needs to be dealt. It has been three decades now and generations are loosing connect with their roots which is going to be a big loss for Kashmir as a diverse society. Therefore, provisions for the return are to be made quick before it is too late.”
