Minor Dies After Drowning Into A Pit In Kupwara

Kupwara: A minor girl died after drowning into a pit while playing in Lolab area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, on Tuesday.

Reports said that the minor Iqra Jan (3), daughter of Imran Ahmad Khan, died after she fell into a pit on Tuesday afternoon at Dardpora village where she had gone to her relatives’ house along with her mother.

Iqra, a resident of Maidanpora village, as per her relatives was playing in the area and “in no time she went missing”. “We couldn’t find her but after some time, we found her lying in the pit,” they said.

After recovering her from the pit, she was taken to the local health centre at Sogam where doctors declared her brought dead.

The concerned police officer confirmed the incident and said that after conducting legal medical formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to legal heirs for last rites. (GNS)
