Militants slain in Srinagar gunfight identified

Srinagar: Three militants were killed in a gunfight between government forces and militants at Batamaloo area of Srinagar city on Thursday morning.

One lady namely Kausar Riyaz of Batamaloo was also killed during encounter.

The slain militants have been identified as Zakir Ahmad Paul, Son of Nisar Ahmad Paul, from Aloora, Imam Sahib area in Shopian district and Ubair Mushtaq Bhat, Son of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat from Badragund Kulgam. Both were affiliated with Hizbul-Mujahideen militant outfit.

Third slain militant has been identified as Adil Hussain Bhat (BUMS Student), Son of Abdul Rashid Bhat, a resident of Charsoo, Awantipora. He was affiliated with Al-Badr militant outfit.

Earlier, government forces had launched cordon and search operation in Batamaloo area following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.
