Mehbooba Mufti welcomes India-Pak DGMO-level talks on J&K ceasefire, calls it ‘a big development’
Srinagar: Hours after Director Generals of Military Operations of India and Pakistan held discussions over the established mechanism of hotline contact and agreed to a ceasefire along the LoC and other sectors, former Jammu & Kashmir CM Mehboob Mufti welcomed the development.
Taking to her Twitter Mufti reiterated her earlier statement saying dialogue is the only way forward if both countries want to stop the unending cycle of violence and bloodshed across the borders and J&K.
“A big & welcome development that India & Pakistan have agreed to a ceasefire along the LoC. Dialogue is the only way forward if both countries want to stop the unending cycle of violence & bloodshed across the borders and J&K,” she said.
The National Conference also welcomed the talks and expressed hope that the statement will be followed in letter and spirit by both countries.
“We welcome it and hope that the statement will be followed in letter & spirit. JKNC has always been a strong supporter of the Ceasefire along the LoC. This will allow people living along the LoC & IB to go about their normal lives with minimal disruption & risk,” NC said in a tweet.
