Man killed over land dispute in Shopian, Family members stage protest at Press Colony Srinagar
Srinagar, Nov 04: A man was allegedly killed over a land dispute in South Kashmir’s Shopian distirct while his family members and relatives Wednesday staged a protest against the involved persons, demanding stringent action against them.
The family members of Abdul Salam Thoker of Padderpora Shopian who was allegeldy killed, assembled at Srinagar’s Press Enclave alongwith the dead body here to press for their demands.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Nazir Ahmad, one of the protesting family members said that there was a dispute over a piece of land in Shopian in their village.
“The case is already in the court. The officials from Revenue department made a surprise visit to the land yesterday. However, during the visit, Abdul Salam was attacked by the opposite party, resulting in his on spot death,” Ahmad said.
However, the protesting family has stated that it went to the concerned police station to lodge a report in this regard.
However, the family said that officials in PS refused to file a case following which they reached Srinagar to stage a protest to demand action against the culprits. (KNO)
