Mamta’s win a crushing defeat to communal forces,victory for democracy & secularism: Soz
Srinagar May 2: Former Union Minister Prof Saif Ud Din Soz on Sunday said that the victory of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee and her Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) is a crushing defeat to communal forces and victory of democracy and secularism for which India is known the world over.
In a statement issued to Kashmir news service (KNS) on Sunday Soz said “West Bengal Assembly Election results have shown to the world that Democracy and Secularism have to be recognized as core values of India’s social and political life”, adding that “the win for Mamta Banerji is surely a crushing defeat to communal forces”.
Stating that the entire world knows that both the Prime Minister and the Home Minister had raised communal slogans like Har Har Mahadev and Jai Shri Ram etc, Soz said “Mamta Banerji and her party had shown to the world that India will stay secular for all times to come”, adding that “It is very unfortunate that the Election Commission of India has shown itself in extremely poor light.
