Major Crackdown on Cross-Border Arms Smuggling in Amritsar

Amritsar, July 23 — In a significant blow to trans-border arms trafficking networks, Amritsar Rural Police have seized a cache of illegal weapons in two separate operations, one of which was conducted jointly with the Border Security Force (BSF Punjab).

Based on specific intelligence inputs, law enforcement officials apprehended four accused individuals and recovered eight illegal pistols from their possession. The seized arms include five pistols of .30 caliber and three 9mm pistols, all accompanied by magazines.

The operations, carried out with precision and coordination, highlight the growing concern over illegal arms being smuggled across the international border for potential use in organized crime.

FIRs have been registered at Police Station Gharinda, Amritsar, and further investigation is underway to unearth the full extent of the network, including its local and international linkages.

The Punjab Police, in coordination with the BSF, has reiterated its firm resolve to crack down on organized crime and ensure the safety and security of citizens across the state.
