Main Qayoom arrested in Babar Qadri murder case

Srinagar, June 25: J&K Police on Tuesday arrested former J&K High Court Bar Association, Srinagar, president advocate Main Qayoom in the Barbar Qadri murder case.

Qayoom has functioned as President of the High Court Bar Association in Kashmir for several terms and represented HCBA in the separatist conglomerate Hurriyat Conference for a long time.

Qadri was assassinated by terrorists at his Srinagar residence in September 2020.

In August 2021, a special team set up by the state police filed charges against five suspects. When security forces killed Abbas Shiekh, chief commander of The Resistance Front (TRF), a shadow front of LeT, and his deputy Saqib Manzoor, in September, the Kashmir Police said that Saqib Manzoor was also involved in Qadri’s murder.

A Case FIR No 62/2020 U/S 302 IPC 7/27 IAA 13/16/18/20/39 UA PA was registered at P/S Lalbazar Srinagar later on the case was transferred to SIA Kashmir for further investigation
