Srinagar: A day after security forces jointly foiled a major infiltration bid close to the fence in Machil sector in Kupwara district, the bodies of all three slain militants were recovered and shifted for medico-legal formalities on Monday, officials said.
A senior police official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that bodies of all the three militants were recovered from the encounter site in Machil and moved for medico-legal formalities.
He said that it is being ascertained to which outfit the slain belonged to. “The bodies have been retrieved for medico-Legal and burial process,” the official said.
“The entire process is underway and hopefully the required formalities will be finalized soon and burial will be done”, the official said.
Notably, the army earlier claimed to have recovered a huge quantity of warlike stores from the encounter site that includes, two AK-47 riffles with two magazines and 60 rounds, one pistol with two magazines with two magazines and 29 rounds, and a radio set.
Besides the warlike store, the army said that Rs 50,000 Indian currency along with administrative stores were recovered from the possession of infiltrators.
It may be recalled that an army officer and two army men besides a BSF constable were killed in the encounter at Machil sector that ended with the killing of three infiltrators taking the total toll to seven. (KNO)
