LoC Flare Up: Army Defuses 3 Mortars in Uri; Shells Land in Poonch Village
Uri (Baramulla), Jun 8: Government Forces on Monday defused three mortar shells in Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Reports reaching GNS said that at least three live mortar shells landed in Dardkote village of Uri sector on Sunday last after an exchange of fire between the India and Pakistan armies.
Faisal Iqbal, Sarpanch of Dardkote village told GNS, that several houses were damaged after shells landed in Hajipeer and Kamalkote sectors of Uri. “Three of the shells remained unexploded.”
Upon informing, a team of Army defused the live shells, he said.
SDM Uri, Reyaz Ahmad Malik told GNS that mortar shells were detonated by a expert team of Army after NOC”. SDPO Uri, Junaid Wali told GNS that while expert team of army defused shells.
Meanwhile, official sources in Poonch said that some shells fired by Pakistan landed in a graveyard in Karmarha village.
An army official told GNS that shelling from Pakistan was effectively retaliated. He however said that no loss of life or any Injury was reported in the shelling.
