LG Allocates Portfolios to Ministers in J&K: Dy CM Takes Charge of Key Departments

 

Srinagar, Oct 19 (ANN): In a significant development following the formation of the new Jammu and Kashmir government, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has allocated key portfolios to the recently sworn-in ministers. The allocation comes in accordance with Rule 4(2) of the Transaction of Business of the Government of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Rules, 2019.

Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary Receives Major Responsibilities

Surinder Kumar Choudhary, who holds the position of Deputy Chief Minister, has been entrusted with a broad range of vital portfolios. He will oversee the Public Works Department (R&B), Industries & Commerce, Mining, Labour & Employment, and Skill Development. These departments are crucial to the economic growth and infrastructure development of the Union Territory. Choudhary’s experience and leadership will be closely watched as he spearheads these sectors.

Sakeena Itoo to Lead Health, Education, and Social Welfare

Sakeena Itoo has been given charge of several critical portfolios, including Health & Medical Education, School Education, Higher Education, and Social Welfare. Her role is pivotal as Jammu and Kashmir continues to improve its healthcare infrastructure and address the challenges posed by educational reforms. With the ongoing focus on improving health services, Itoo’s leadership will be key in ensuring accessible healthcare and quality education for the people of the region.

Javaid Ahmed Rana to Manage Jal Shakti, Forest, and Tribal Affairs

Javaid Ahmed Rana has been assigned the portfolios of Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs. These portfolios are essential to the region’s environmental sustainability and water management. Javaid Ahmad Dar Heads Agriculture, Rural Development, and Cooperative Affairs

Javaid Ahmad Dar will oversee Agriculture Production, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Cooperative, and Election. Satish Sharma Takes Charge of Key Service Departments

Satish Sharma has been entrusted with Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science & Technology, Information Technology, Youth Services & Sports, and ARI & Trainings. These portfolios reflect the essential services that affect the daily lives of residents. His leadership will focus on ensuring efficient delivery of services, advancing technology initiatives, and fostering youth development in sports and training programs.

Unallocated Portfolios to be Managed by the LG’s Office

The order also mentioned that any other departments or subjects not allocated to a specific minister will be managed under the oversight of the Lieutenant Governor’s office.

This strategic allocation of portfolios reflects the government’s focus on balanced governance and addressing key sectors like infrastructure, education, healthcare, environment, and services to ensure overall development across Jammu and Kashmir.
