LeT Militant Slain In Pulwama Encounter
PULWAMA — A militant affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant outfit was killed in an encounter that broke out between government forces and militants at Chatapora area of Pulwama district in South Kashmir on Monday.
Reports said a joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) at Chatapora area of Pulwama district following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.
They said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
In the encounter one militant affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant outfit was killed and he has been identified as Suhail Ahmad Khan, son of Gh Mohi-ud-din Khan, a resident of Maidan Chogal Handwara.
Incriminating materials, arms/ammunition has been recovered from the site of encounter.
As per police records, the killed militant was involved in several terror crime cases including attacks on Police/security forces and other civilian atrocities.
Meanwhile Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar has congratulated the joint teams for carrying out anti-militancy operations in professional manner without any collateral damage.
He also termed the elimination of 7 militants in less than 24 hours as a big success taking the toll of total killed militants to 114 including 32 foreigners so far in this year. — (KIMS)
