Large Cache of Weapons Seized in Handwara–Nowgam Sector, Major Terror Plot Foiled
Handwara, Nov 21:
Security forces recovered a significant haul of weapons during a joint operation by Handwara Police and the Naugam Brigade of the Indian Army in the Neeriyan Forest area along the LoC in the Nowgam sector.
Acting on specific intelligence, the team launched a search operation and uncovered a major hideout. The following weapons and ammunition were seized:
- Two M-series assault rifles with four magazines
- Two Chinese pistols with three magazines
- Two hand grenades
- Several live rounds
Police have registered FIR No. 39/2025 at Police Station Qalamabad. The investigation is underway.
Officials said the operation has averted a possible terror attempt and reflects the ongoing efforts of security forces to maintain peace and protect the region from hostile elements.
