Lady sustains bullet injury after CRPF party opens fire upon vehicle in Awantipora
Srinagar, Apr 17: A lady sustained bullet injury on Saturday after the vehicle she was travelling in, was fired upon by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) party due to mistaken identity over ‘suspicious act’ of the driver, who was hit a policeman and didn’t stop after being signaled to stop at twin places in Awantipora area of South Kashmir.
Officials told that a vehicle Wagnor bearing registration number JK01J-8038 was signaled to stop by Police person namely SgCt NaserUllah at Awantipora Chowk at about 03:15 PM but the driver hit him and escaped from spot.
“The vehicle was again signaled to stop at Padgampora bridge but again it didn’t stop. The CRPF 130Bn deployed on naka there has fired warning aerial shots but the driver remained defiant and didn’t pay heed to stop the vehicle,” officials said.
“Thus, due to mistaken identity over great suspicious act of driver; the vehicle was fired upon by CRPF party, resulting its tyre burst and also in the ensuing incident one lady namely Jaisi Parvaiz Sheikh, daughter of Parvaiz Ahmed Sheikh (who was travelling on the said vehicle) of Muran Pulwama sustained bullet injuries in her right arm,” officials said.
Moreover, they said that the driver of the vehicle identified as Junaid Tariq Dar, son of Tariq Ahmed Dar of Bedalpora, Handwara was arrested and the vehicle was seized as well.
“The injured lady was shifted to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Awantipora by Police and wherefrom she was shifted to Bone and Joint (B&J) Hospital Srinagar for further treatment. Her condition is reported to be stable by doctors,” officials said, adding that the injured police SgCt is also stable and a case under FIR number 48/2021 under relevant section of law has been registered and investigation into the matter is in progress.
