KU likely to continue academic activities online during winter vacations

The University of Kashmir (KU) is likely to continue the academic activities of the ongoing session even during the winter vacations in order to compensate for the academic losses in the past months.
The varsity in this regard has asked its teaching faculty to observe the holidays of the upcoming winter vacations in a phased manner.
KU’s Dean Academic Affairs (DEA), Akbar Masoodi said that the university is trying to compensate the academic losses faced by its students following the outbreak of COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Academic activities will be continued during the ongoing academic session to compensate the losses and the varsity will not allow all teaching staff to observe the holidays at one time,” Masoodi said.
He said that the KU will continue the academics via online classes till there are any new directions or orders from the government.
Meanwhile, the KU in the academic calendar for the fresh batch has said, “Only fifty percent of the teaching faculty shall observe the winter vacation of one month only in the first half of the winter break.”
“Subsequently rest of the fifty percent of the faculty shall observe the winter vacation in the second month of the winter break,” it reads.
Pertinently, in the second week of March, the Jammu and Kashmir administration ordered closure of all educational institutions, including schools, colleges and universities till March-31 in wake of COVID-19 outbreak.
However, in view of a surge in COVID-19 positive cases, the administration extended the closure orders.
Following the COVID-19 outbreak, all universities were directed to ensure to prepare online tutorials in order to shun the academic loses.
