Khanyar family’s wounds scratched afresh as deceased son secures distinction in 12th class exam
Srinagar: Instead of festivities, a pall of gloom descended on the Khanyar residence of Mubashir Sajad Dar, who on Monday passed the annual class 12 examination with distinction by securing 439 out of 500 marks.
Mubashir, it may be mentioned, had died mysteriously around two months ago when he was on an outing with his friends in the tourist resort of Pahalgam.
As Mubashir’s online scorecard started doing the rounds on social media following the declaration of results by the J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) today morning, his mother, Tanveera Akhter rushed to his grave with almonds and toffees to congratulate the ‘topper’.
The Srinagar teen allegedly died under mysterious circumstances at GMC Anantnag on December 28 as per his family, who allege that Mubashir was “denied” treatment by his friends after doctors at a dispensary at Pahalgam referred him to a hospital in Anantnag.
But reportedly as per police, Mubashir died at the hotel itself where he was putting up with his friends, a claim disputed by his family.
On Monday, the family’s wounds were scratched afresh as neighbours, relatives and friends thronged their residence after the result, not to congratulate them but to wail over their lost son.
“Our son has died once again today. There has been mourning again in our house since morning when we learned about his result,” Sajad Ahmad Dar, Mubashir’s father said.
“What could have been a day of celebration and happiness for the family is now the day of mourning and wailing for us,” he lamented.
According to Sajad, Mubashir wanted to pursue his career in Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and used to study hard for the high profile exam.
“He was good at studies and wanted to join IAS. Mubashir was also a good football player and went to the gym regularly,” recalled the father.
After their son’s death, the family has been waiting for the postmortem report and the status of the investigation by the police, but to no avail, they said.
Sajad said that the investigation into the case is going on at a snail’s pace after police registered a case under FIR number 02/2021 under section 304 IPC 8/21,20,27 and a separate case under NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Pahalgam.
“We paid a visit to SDPO Pahalgam some fifteen days ago to confirm the status of the investigation, but they said that they are waiting for the post mortem report of Mubashir and DOPE test results of his friends,” added Sajad.
He further said that Mubashir’s phone went unreachable since December 27.
“He called me at 10:30 am on the morning of 27th of December from his friend’s number saying his phone’s battery was empty. I don’t know the reason why he couldn’t recharge the battery of his phone,” Sajad said.
According to Sajad, Mubashir’s health started to deteriorate on the night of 27th and was taken to Pahalgam dispensary by his friends.
“But the doctors at the dispensary told me that he wasn’t allowed to treat Mubashir. On the morning of 28th my son was taken to the Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag where doctors had declared him dead,” he claimed.
Mubashir’s family appealed to the LG Manoj Sinha and Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar to intervene in the case and speed up the investigation to provide them justice.
