Keller residents protest, demand establishment of Degree College in the area

Shopian: The residents of Keller village in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Monday staged a protest demanding the establishment of Degree College in the area.

Reports reaching City FM JK said that the local residents blocked Keller-Pulwama road in protest against administration.

Locals said, “Recently the Degree College was allotted to the Keller area but the residents of Bethipora also approached the administration for same”. Adding “the district administration is ignoring Keller area after receiving proposal from Bethipora.”

“Keller is more deserving place for Degree College as it is center for more than 100 villages,” locals further said.

“We are protesting just to inform administration that if they fail to establish Degree College in Keller, we will hit streets in protest” said local residents.

Meanwhile Tehsildar Keller said, “we have seen some locations for the establishment of college. However nothing has been finalized yet” (City FM JK)
