Kejriwal Govt extends lockdown in Delhi by one week

NEW DELHI – Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday the ongoing lockdown in the national capital has been extended by another week and will continue to till May 3 to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Speaking to media, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said, ”We had imposed a 6-day lockdown in Delhi. The lockdown is being extended to next Monday till 5 am.”

”We have started a portal that will be updated every two hours by oxygen manufacturers, suppliers and hospitals for better management of oxygen supply. The Central and State teams are working together,” he said.

On April 19, Kejriwal announced a six-day lockdown in Delhi that was supposed to be in force in Delhi till 5:00 am on April 26 (Monday).

Delhi on Saturday added 357 deaths due to Covid-19, the highest ever single day spike while 24,103 new cases took the caseload to 1,004,782, according to the health department’s bulletin.
