Kashmir Social Forestry Department celebrates “International Day of Forests 2019”

Srinagar: Social Forestry Department today on the occasion of “International Day of Forests 2019” organized World Arbor Day in all districts in Kashmir valley.

A grand function was organized on the occasion by Social Forestry Department, Srinagar at R P School Nagbal in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Regional Director Social Forestry Kashmir Mr Zubair Ahmad was the Chief Guest DFO Social Forestry Srinagar Division Mr Ishtiyaq Ahmad Tanga was also present on the occasion.

A plantation drive was also carried out by planting of conifers, ornamentals and medicinal plants.

A mini herbal garden was inaugrated at the school by worthy Regional Director Kashmir Mr Zubair Ahmad.

A painting competition was also conducted and the students were rewarded with certificates and trophies by the Department.

The main attractions of the function include a skit and debate on the theme “Forests and Education.

Social Forestry Employees Association’s President Mr Ghulam Rasool Geelani & General Secretary Ali Mohammad Mir emphasized all the people of Kashmir to come forward for plantation drive so that we achive the mission “Green Kashmir”
