Srinagar, Nov 25: Junaid Azim Mattu was Wednesday elected as Srinagar mayor while his opponent Sheikh Imran bagged just 11 votes.
Imran lost the polls despite Congress asking its 16 councilors to vote for him.
The elections were scheduled to begin here on Wednesday at 11 am but were delayed amid chaos and boycott calls by some councilors.
“Junaid Mattu bagged 44 votes. The number of total votes casted was 55. Sheikh Imran bagged just 11 votes,” said an official.
