Judgment On Kathua Case Has Increased Our Faith In Country’s Judiciary System: NC

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Monday welcomed the judgment of special court wherein six accused in the Kathua rape and murder case have been convicted, saying justice has been delivered.

Party general secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar while expressing satisfaction over the court judgment of convicting the culprits involved in the heinous crime against the eight-year-old nomadic girl in Kathua said, “The judgment has increased our faith in the judiciary system of the country. Nevertheless notwithstanding the politics that was played over the heinous crime, the justice finally stands delivered.”

“The incident had agonized the soul of every right thinking person. I feel deeply for the courageous family of the victim girl, who has risen to become a symbol of women’s fight against sexual violence. We believe the verdict should have been served much earlier, however now that it has been delivered, we welcome it,” he said in a statement.

Sagar said it is high time for us to ensure that every daughter of our state and the country in general leads a life of dignity, and esteem.

It is also high time for the government to come up with both legislative and administrative measures to ensure that justice in such cases are served promptly, NC general secretary said, adding, “It is also high time for the society to raise voice against the gender based violence. The unremitting crime cases both house-hold and such others as had enfolded in Kathua should act as a wakeup call for the government to act promptly in such cases.”

Meanwhile, party additional general secretary Dr. Sheikh Mustufa Kamal, provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, Women’s wing president Shameema Firdous, members of parliament elect Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi, Muhammad Akbar Lone, chief spokesperson Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, Peerzada Syed Basharat Bhukhari, provincial spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar also welcomed the judgment.
